The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates to serve as the Athletic Trainer and teach two high school courses per semester (Kinesiology and Athletic Training; Emergency Care and Sport Safety) for the 2025/26 academic school year. The Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Director of Athletics.

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention and care of athletic injuries; the maintenance of the health and well-being; and the recuperation and rehabilitation following injury of all members of the CESJDS Athletic community. Ideal candidates must have a proven record of working as a team player in close partnership with coaches and team managers, officials, and other teams during athletic competition.  They must possess the ability to adjust plans while maintaining a high level of flexibility, and remain calm and professional in all settings. Additionally, the athletic trainer must have demonstrated success in forging positive relationships with their students and colleagues, fostering student engagement by putting the student at the center of the learning, utilize differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners within their classroom, and engage in positive behavior management.Â

Responsibilities:
- Prevents, evaluates, and treats athletic injuries while ensuring comfort and safety
- Prepares athletes for activity with stretching, preventative taping, and bandaging techniques
- Prepares rehabilitation plan for injured athletes and schedules treatment times
- Communicates daily with coaches and the Athletic Director in a concise, informative manner, on the status of injured and recuperating athletes
- Communicates with athletes, families and administration to update them on any injuries and follow-ups
- Maintains confidentiality of athlete injury information in accordance with HIPPA regulations and school expectationsÂ
- Prepares athletic training room for use and maintains and ensures safe operation of all athletic training equipment or modalities
- Assists in coordinating the upkeep and inventory control of all sport medicine modalities and supplies used
- Maintains proper documentation of all athletic injuries in a concise, legible, and timely manner
- Leads the Student Athletic Training (SAT) Program which includes leading the SAT Club and providing students a space for learning and putting in volunteer hours
- Teaches two high school courses per semester (Kinesiology and Athletic Training; Emergency Care and Sport Safety)
- Attends faculty meetings as scheduled
- Serves as high school advisor
- Other duties as assigned by the High School Principal
