Description

I. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversees and directs administrative functions for the parish including personnel, finance, technology communication, stewardship, and facilities. Assures compliance with Archdiocesan policies, and local, state and federal laws/regulations. Oversees activities relating to Stewardship.

II. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

  1. Directs fundraising activities such as Parish Stewardship, Planned Giving, capital campaigns and Archdiocesan campaigns.
  2. Manages the financial resource systems of the parish.
  3. Assures preparation and administration of capital and operating budgets for the parish and school. Assures accurate and confidential record keeping systems.
  4. Evaluates office equipment and technology and manages the up-grade of or installation of new equipment or systems. Directs the preparation and upkeep of asset inventory.
  5. Directs construction and maintenance functions for the parish, school and other properties.
  6. Directs management of all parish facilities and grounds.
  7. Supervises all parish clerical, administrative, development and maintenance staff members    providing guidance, training, development, and corrective action and dealing with/resolving other employment issues. Selects and trains new employees. Initiates or reviews all terminations.
  8. Manages the Human Resources function and its sub functions including salary administration, recruiting, employee relations, training and communication.
  9. Serves as staff resource person for various consultative groups as directed by the Pastor.
  10. Serves as staff to Finance Council.
  11. Provides feedback and input on parish personnel matters for the Pastor.
  12. Participates in staff meetings.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Primary:
    1. Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
    2. Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained ministers.
    3. Strong desire to assist with the growth of the Church.
  2. Education:
    1. Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  3. Experience:
    1. At least 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance or related business practices.
    2. Experience with a not-for-profit organization or in Church management is a plus.
    3. Possess emotional intelligence skills and ability to build trust with pastor and leadership team members and parishioners.
    4. Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
    5. Demonstrable interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; initiative and a strong desire to achieve results.
    6. Experience and competence in standard management software tools (Microsoft 365 Copilot Applications, QuickBooks Online, ParishStaq).
    7. Experience with human resources activities.
    8. Experience with working in a team leadership environment.
    9. Can be entrusted with highly confidential information.
  4. Other Elements:
    1. Curiosity to learn and understand the many works of the Church in Western Washington and desire to apply professional skills to support further effectiveness of those efforts.
    2. Flexibility and emotional intelligence in working with small and large groups of different stakeholders in consensus decision-making scenarios.
    3. Working knowledge of, or strong willingness to learn, Catholic parish structures and organizations.
    4. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, including multicultural communities.
    5. Willing and able to work some evenings and weekends as needed.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
