  1. GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE:

Collaborates with the pastoral leader to provide quality liturgical celebrations and experiences for members of Parish Family 45, which includes St. Joseph, Our Lady of Lourdes and the Proto-Cathedral of Saint James the Greater

  1. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
    1. Collaborates with the Pastoral Leader, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish family.
    2. Directs the parish worship programs. Develops and organizes plans which respond to the parish workshop and prayer needs and oversees the provision of quality sacramental and liturgical celebrations in collaboration with the presider. The Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy oversees the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of both the Eucharist and sacramental celebrations of the parish.
    3. Coordinates liturgical celebrations, special liturgies or paraliturgies scheduled throughout the year. The Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy supervises the Music Ministry for the family.
    4. Coordinates the work of the liturgy teams and committees, as well as the work of the various liturgical ministers, including presiders, lectors, Eucharist ministers, servers, musicians, sacristans, artists, ushers, and others. Recruits, screens, trains, and supports these ministers, assuring the completion of background checks as appropriate.
    5. Assures that adequate materials for worship are available. Oversees the purchase and supply of sacred vessels, vestments, and other liturgical supplies.
    6. Serves as a local parish resource to the Pastor and other staff by providing assistance or consultation for their worship needs and responsibilities.
    7. Prepares and administers an annual liturgy budget as delegated by the Pastor.
    8. Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy by reading appropriate materials and attending workshops and conventions. The Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy also participates in appropriate local, regional and national professional liturgical organizations.

Qualifications

 

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    1. Meets regularly with the Parish Pastor to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated liturgy plan for the liturgical seasons of the Church year.
    2. Collaborates with the choir director and music ministers for the Parish Family to plan and coordinate music that is liturgically appropriate for weekend parish liturgies, designated liturgies, and special celebrations (e.g., Holy Days, parish feast days, funerals, weddings, etc.).
    3. Recruit and supervise other liturgical ministries (Altar Servers, Extra Ordinary Ministers of Communion, Lectors, Liturgical Environment Ministers, Musicians, Sacristans, and Ushers).
    4. Develop parish volunteers for roles in all liturgical ministries.
    5. Ensure the scheduling of liturgical volunteers.
    6. Maintain the monthly Parish Liturgy Calendar and other useful documents for communicating with Liturgy staff and volunteers.
    7. Develop and adhere to liturgy budgets.
    8. Supervise inventory of liturgical supplies (albs, Eucharist supplies, liturgical environment supplies, etc.).
    9. Support volunteers' spiritual growth and skill enhancement through periodic spiritual retreats or workshops.
    10. Actively participate in the Worship Commission.
    11. Attend parish staff meetings and retreats.
    12. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
