Position: Onsite Temporary Camp Staff 

Location: Monroe, WA 

Duration: Spring 2025 

 

GENERAL INTRODUCTION: 
Each position employed with CYO Camping and Guest Services helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: 
Provide an educational experience that encourages students to develop an appreciation and care for God's creation through Catholic reflections, scientific observation and investigations. 
 
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES: 

  1. Implement the Environmental Education program as the primary point of contact for students. 
  2. Plan and lead environmental and challenge course lessons using established curriculum and resources. 
  3. Take part in leading morning prayer, evening prayer, and mass or liturgy. 
  4. Ensure the health and safety of assigned students and chaperones. 
  5. Create an atmosphere that makes all school participants (students, chaperones, and teachers) feel comfortable and welcome. 
  6. Lead meals and evening activities with students.  
  7. Be on call 1-2 evenings as assigned. 
  8. Lead recreational/choice time activities with students. 
  9. Assist in cleaning camper and staff areas.  
  10. Provide general camp support- i.e. low ropes and initiatives facilitation, kitchen and facilities clean-up, luggage transportation, etc. 
  11. Participate in pre- and post- session camp set up and clean-up. 
  12. For one week (M-F), provide day camp activities to a group of campers at Camp Don Bosco. 
  13. Assist in the evaluation of the program at the end of the season. 

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
 

Primary: 

  1. Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop. 
  2. A good example for youth. 

Education: 

  1. High school diploma 

Experience:  

  1. Previous experience working with children. 

Other Elements: 

  1. Commitment to the mission and values of CYO. 
  2. Strong communication skills, with an ability to work with individuals and groups. 
  3. Willingness to learn and implement basic teaching and presenting skills. 
  4. Basic knowledge of environmental science preferred, or ability to learn the curriculum. 
  5. Current CPR/First aid required or willingness to obtain. 
  6. Willingness to obtain Small Craft Safety and Challenge Course training during staff training. 
  7. Willingness to work outside in a variety of weather for long periods.  
  8. Ability to work evenings and live on-site in rustic facilities while programs are in session. 

 

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
