Description

SUMMARY

The Cook supports the treatment of clients who are struggling with addiction by providing nutritionist meals and snacks to our client population. Always maintains a clean and organized kitchen environment while working quickly and efficiently under short timelines. To be successful in this role, a cook needs to have good communication skills and a positive demeanor towards clients and other staff members.

Schedule: Friday and Saturday 9AM - 6PM 

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature. 
  • Prepares and cooks various items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements.
  • Bakes breads, rolls, and pastries.
  • Apportions and serves food to patients
  • Washes cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces.
  • Develops, compiles, and maintains food records regarding use and expenditures.
  • Inventories supplies and equipment.
  • Determines, or assists in determining, meals and menus
  • Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain proper chain of command.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings/in service training.
  • Maintain a high level of flexibility with the daily flow of work tasks.
  • Complete all other duties as directed by leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Professional cook experience working in a fast pass kitchen preparing and cooking meals
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified on first day of placement in role 
  • A valid Motor Vehicle License
