POSITION SUMMARY:

We believe solid planning requires special expertise and a team approach. Our team includes individuals with financial planning, investment management, tax and legal expertise, dedicated to working with our clients to plan, grow and protect legacies across generations. Adhering at all times to First Citizens’ Wealth Management superior client service standards, the Paraplanner is responsible supporting our Wealth Advisors and Trust Officers in creating, delivering and maintaining exceptional financial plans for clients.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Financial Planning:                             60%

    • Coordinates with team members, existing clients and prospective clients to gather and maintain client data related to financial planning process.
    • Enters client data into financial planning tools including, but not limited to, risk analysis software, tax analysis software and financial planning software.
    • Creates custom analysis of financial planning scenarios and recommendations which may include:
      • Cash flow and balance sheet summaries
      • Retirement projections and income planning
      • Insurance needs analyses
      • Investment allocation and risk analysis recommendations
      • Education, liquidity, and survivor income planning
      • Estate and Succession planning
      • Tax analysis
    • Generates reports and client presentation deliverables from planning tools.
    • Prepares materials for client meetings highlighting financial plan updates and key discussion points.
    • Performs research on financial planning topics.
    • Documents updates to financial plans in CRM and provides supporting reasoning and analysis.
    • Engages in regular check-ins with Wealth Advisors, Associate Wealth Advisors and other team members to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial planning process across Department.
    • Participates in client meetings to assist with presentation of financial plans.
    • Prepares client-ready reports, meeting documents, and follow-ups for both new and existing clients.
    • Delegates effectively to Wealth Assistant(s) and other team members as needed.
    • Coordinates with team members to ensure deadlines are met, internal workflows completed timely and client service standards are met.
    • Coordinates multiple concurrent projects and deadlines independently and with a team.

Technical Support:                                          30%

    • Creates and manages processes and workflows to streamline the Department’s financial planning process.
    • Manages and maintains financial plans to create consistent plan delivery process across Department.
    • Serves as technical support to team on financial planning tools.
    • Develops proficiency in all tools utilized by Department in the financial planning process.
    • Attends ongoing training on software utilized in financial planning process and provides recommendations to enhance financial planning processes.
    • Provides training on financial planning tools across team.

Compliance/Other:                                          10%

    • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements and ensures compliance standards are met by ensuring strong documentation of planning process in CRM, including client deliverables.
    • Maintains current understanding of regulation, policies and procedures.
    • Pursues training, educational and self-development opportunities—not only to ensure mandatory continuing education and training requirements are satisfied but to increase skill level and remain current on tax, financial planning, estate planning, investment planning, and retirement planning.
    • Maintains client confidence and protects Wealth Management operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Attends mandatory compliance and security sessions.
    • Monitors daily work for adherence to compliance and security regulations, policies/procedures, and promptly corrects any deficiencies.
    • Positively contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Travels to branch locations as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

      • Work is performed primarily indoors in an office setting.
      • Remote work is not available for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Bachelor degree in business/finance/accounting preferred.  Financial planning experience preferred.
      • Strong technical and analytical skills and ability to adapt to new technologies.
      • Ability and willingness to continually learn and grow.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial planning concepts and investments.
