Job Title: Federal Work Study Athletic Training Assistant

Location: Wheeling University, Wheeling, WV

Hours: Flexible (15 hours per week)

Hourly Rate: $10 per hour

Position Summary: The Federal Work Study Athletic Training Assistant at Wheeling University supports the Athletic Training staff in providing healthcare services to student-athletes. This position offers hands-on experience in sports medicine and athletic training while contributing to the overall health and safety of our athletes. The Assistant will work closely with certified athletic trainers and gain practical skills in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist certified athletic trainers in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
2. Attend and assist in practices, games, and events to provide immediate medical care to student-athletes under the supervision of the athletic training staff.
3. Aid in the maintenance and organization of athletic training facilities, equipment, and supplies.
4. Help with administrative tasks such as documenting injuries, treatment plans, and athlete medical histories.
5. Educate student-athletes on injury prevention techniques and rehabilitation exercises.
6. Adhere to NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures regarding student-athlete healthcare.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current Wheeling University student eligible for Federal Work Study funding.
