Job Title: Internal Quality Engineer

Purpose of Position/Summary:
The position of Internal Quality Engineer, IQE, is focused on achieving 100% part quality with 100% on-time delivery. This is achieved through continuous improvement, accurate documentation, associate training, line condition, successful new launches, and driving the culture to always learn and improve. The achievement of these goals directly leads to the company goals of zero defects and 100% on-time delivery.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Communicate quality issues to relevant associates in an accurate and timely manner;
- Lead cross functional team to investigate internal line quality claims / scrap events;
- Prepare “5 Why” analysis and finalize investigation report for internal communication;
- Support CQE and other relevant associates regarding quality or manufacturing defects;
- Ensure all quality issues are correctly contained to the last good inspection;
- Report out corrective actions to Director of Quality and Executive Management;
- Represent QA during TPO, QSA, and Safe Launches. Support all departments;
- Prepare QSA check sheet for new launches. Responsible for each department’s completion;
- Perform internal audits as scheduled. Continuously improve using the audits;
- Support cross functional team as needed for customer or supplier visits;
- Aggressively attack any scrap events with the goal to reduce / eliminate scrap;
- Other duties assigned by immediate Supervisor or Manager on an as needed basis.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required from an accredited institution. 5 years of related experience may substitute for a college diploma. Minimum of 3 years IQE experience in the automotive field preferred. Focus on stamping, plastics, assembly, and welding. This position also requires the ability to read drawings and communicate specifications. Microsoft skillset is required. Must have the ability to communicate across all departments both internal and external. Communication skills across multiple department levels required. Must be able to work with urgency and manage pressure.
