Job Title:  Manufacturing Manager

Purpose of Position/Summary:

The Manufacturing Manager will manage various manufacturing areas by overseeing the day to day operations, maintaining the efficiency, scrap and improvement targets, and optimizing the headcount of the department.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain Key Job Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Supervisors, which address Continuous Improvement in throughput, quality, safety, assets employed and inventory management;
  • Ensure associate compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Associate Recruitment, Development, Review, and Discipline;
  • Ensure that supervisors and manufacturing engineers are following procedures for production auditing.  Verify that all discrepancies are corrected and report all activities to the Director of Manufacturing weekly;
  • Establish goals for the Manufacturing Supervisors, which improve Direct Labor Efficiency and Productivity.  Complete Performance Management Evaluations for all Direct Reports;
  • Implement methods to track and monitor machine downtime and implement corrective action programs to prevent reoccurrence;
  • Meet and/or exceed the order requirements of our customers on a timely basis;
  • Establish weekly and daily plant overtime requirements.  Eliminate unnecessary overtime;
  • Monitor the progress to the master schedule in order to maximize manpower and Direct Labor Efficiency;
  • Coordinate operations and maintenance support for the value stream;
  • Use and promote Lean Business System to drive continuous improvement through Kaizen;
  • Lead and monitor projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and Cost;
  • Drive problem solving to root cause correction;
  • Build an environment of teamwork;
  • Determine staffing levels and implement adjustments as needed;
  • Develop and monitor operational budget;
  • Maintain systems to track the performance to the annual budgetary goals of the company and ensure that the goals and objectives of the operation are communicated to the hourly employees;
  • Other duties assigned by The Director of Manufacturing on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Operations, Management, Business, Engineering or related field is required from an accredited institution.  4-6 years of related experience may substitute for a college diploma.  Minimum of 5 years of cross-functional business experience in operations management in the automotive field preferred but not required.  Microsoft skillset is required.  Must have the ability to communicate across all departments both internal and external.  Must be able to work with urgency and manage pressure.  Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
