Position Summary:

We are seeking a Donor Communications Officer to join our development team. As a Donor Communications Officer, you will play an essential role in managing The Stewpot’s direct response vendor and developing meaningful communications for The Stewpot’s annual fund donors. You will also create unique content across various media to support the cultivation and stewardship of donors by The Stewpot’s Major Gift Officers and other Philanthropy staff. In addition, you will collaborate with the Philanthropy + Engagement, Communications, and Programs staff on writing projects that showcase The Stewpot to our donors and community. You will report directly to The Stewpot’s Director of Philanthropy + Engagement.

 

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage The Stewpot’s direct response vendor and its year-round print and email solicitation campaigns.
  • Develop The Stewpot’s annual direct response calendar to coordinate and best market it’s donors through print, email, and social media communications.
  • Gather resources for each direct response communication. This includes interviewing clients to learn their stories and taking client photos or videos for each communication.
  • Craft and/or revise solicitation letters and emails to best reflect Stewpot branding, language and tell donors the stories of the people The Stewpot serves.
  • Project management of direct response drafts and approvals so direct response communications land in homes, emails are sent, and landing pages are set up in a timely manner.
  • Manage North Texas Giving Day Campaign:
  • Each year, plan direction and calendar for the North Texas Giving Day emails and other communications.
  • Collaborate with Communications and Director of Philanthropy + Engagement to create fun, meaningful and educational reminder, solicitation and thank you emails from the last week in August through the end of September each year.
  • Work with Philanthropy + Engagement staff to create regular engaging written communications and visually appealing content and donor touches for Major and Mid-level donors across multiple platforms.
  • Donor Stewardship/Cultivation Communications:
  • Design and execute a comprehensive communication plan to ensure donors are stewarded and cultivated effectively with receive targeted, regular and varied communications throughout the year.
  • Establish communications/stewardship benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Write fresh donor acknowledgement letters each month that update donors on Stewpot services and show donors the impact of their gifts.
  • Collaborate with Communications and Stewpot programs to create general written communications as needed to effectively market The Stewpot.
  • Other duties as assigned by The Director of Philanthropy + Engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training or relevant experience.
  • Experience in development and fundraising for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Experience with copywriting and direct response fundraising.
  • Excellent writing ability and experience.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in digital fundraising and design
  • Personable, self-motivated approach with ability to work independently.
  • A demonstrated passion for service to others.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Mass email platforms and donor databases. Experience with Bloomerang CRM preferred.
