JOB SUMMARY:

The Head Coach is responsible for administering, promoting, coordinating, and continually improving the club sport for which he/she is responsible.  The Head Coach reports directly to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Athletics.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fulfill all tasks attendant to the overall management of Lasell University Club team and do so in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of Lasell University and embodies the educational philosophies of the Department of Athletics and the Division of Student Affairs.

 

  1. Promote the positive development of students:  academically, athletically and personally.

 

  1. Monitor academic progress of student-athletes to insure eligibility and progress towards a degree. 

 

  1. Recruit students for the club program in accordance with Lasell University Guidelines.
     
  2. Coordinate all practice, trainings and competition for the club program.

 

  1. Understand and adhere to all Lasell University Sports Medicine rules, policies and protocols.

 

  1. Provide input to the AVP for Athletics regarding team budget and manage budget effectively.

 

  1. Work collaboratively with all professional members of the Athletic Department including athletic trainers, the Director of Athletic Communications and event management staff.

 

  1. Communicate effectively with a variety of populations including, prospective students and their families; Office of Undergraduate Admission; Health Services and Counseling Center.

 

  1. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Assistant coaches and students including players and team managers.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

 

Minimum Education level: Bachelor's Degree

 

Computer skills: Microsoft Office

Other Requirements of the Job:   Prior coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level; knowledge of club sport rules, associations and leagues; and desire to build a strong club program, are required.
