JOB SUMMARY:

 

Primarily reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach helps in the overall administration of a specific intercollegiate team, providing instruction and direction to student-athletes. Consistent with the educational philosophy of the Athletics Department, the Assistant Coach recognizes his/her primary responsibility as an educator and works with the student-athletes to enhance their overall growth and development. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The statements below are intended to describe the principal duties of the person or persons assigned to this job.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties and responsibilities.  Lasell College has the right to add or change the job responsibilities at any time.

 

1. Promote the overall development of the student-athletes in his/her sport:  academically, athletically and personally.

 

2.  Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with Lasell University and the guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
 

3.  Assist with the coordination of all practice/game preparation, for the specific intercollegiate team with which affiliated. 

 

4.  Adhere to all Lasell University, NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bylaws, rules and philosophies, and work to educate the student-athletes about those tenets.

 

5. Communication: prospective student-athletes, Office of Undergraduate Admission, Athletic Training department, Office of Health Services and Counseling Center, as needed. 

 

6.    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education level:  baccalaureate degree from accredited institution

 

Computer skills:  Microsoft Office

Other Requirements of the Job:
prior coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level; knowledge of, and familiarity with, NCAA Division III guidelines
