Job Title:  Technical Trainer

Purpose of Position/Summary:

The Technical Trainer will help identify internal and external training needs, develop training material, and manage the training process. The Technical Trainer will prepare KYB’s sales team to present educational material to support sales growth and customer loyalty. The position supports KYB’s value proposition by maintaining industry leading, customer training programs. The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and maintaining training material. This position will work with the marketing and product departments to develop materials that support KYB’s selling systems.

The Technical Trainer will spend approximately sixty percent of their time directly training KYB associates, customers, sales teams, technicians, and other shop staff. The Technical Trainer will spend 25% of their time developing and maintaining training material. The balance of their time will be spent working with the KYB marketing & product departments to ensure all media enforces the KYB value proposition.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Implement detailed training plans to achieve training goals and position KYB as the industry leader in Ride Control training;
  • Help the sales team identify training opportunities that will result in gaining sales;
  • Create training material that addresses the challenges of selling ride control products;
  • Work with the sales department to create material that supports KYB product purpose;
  • Train internal and external KYB associates to position KYB as a “World Class” sales organization;
  • Work with KYB Marketing Team to ensure all media supports and enforces the KYB value proposition;
  • Stay abreast of market conditions; recognize changes/trends in the customer base (all levels) and react appropriately;
  • Always respond professionally and proactively to customer situations or problems;
  • Ensure that all reporting is completed on time with content to a high standard;
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate Manager on an as needed basis.

Job Requirements:

Preferably this position will be based out of our Greenwood, IN office. Overnight travel is required for in-person training and company events. Five plus years of experience working in the automotive aftermarket with a focus on development and executing training programs is preferred. This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED from an accredited organization. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, but not required. A college degree is preferred. Proficient in using technology, including MS Office suite.

The Technical Trainer supports the sales team. The Director of Sales and National Sales Manager are accountable for the sales team’s ability to communicate the material developed to support sales. The Technical Trainer is responsible for helping assess the sales team’s ability to train Service Providers. The Technical Trainer will work with the Director of Sales and National Sales Manager to develop BDM’s, TSM’s, Customer Support Representatives, Rep Agencies, Customers, and Service Providers’ ability to sell KYB.  The purpose is to have a professional, uniform message being communicated by everyone involved in selling and distributing KYB products. 

This position requires the ability to possess outstanding presentation skills, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. KYB strives to become our customer’s best supplier, so it is critical in this role to be customer friendly, available, and responsive to their needs. The position requires mechanical intuition, analytical skills, resourcefulness, active listening capabilities, acceptance of responsibility, excellent time management skills, and being enthusiastic and assertive.

Conducting training (with some evening events) is a vital function of this position. This position requires the ability to be comfortable in front of audiences of all sizes. Training proficiencies include product knowledge, ride control technology, vehicle service, marketing, and sales.

The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and managing the training material. All training plans/goals will be set at the beginning of the fiscal year. Progress will be recorded monthly and monitored by the Director of Sales. Year end and mid-year performance reviews will be conducted to measure and guide the associate.
