We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary: In collaboration with the Production and Engineering Managers, the Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for both purchasing and inventory actions, monitoring stock/usage levels and ensuring inventory standards are properly maintained, setting and achieving target inventory levels and stock required to meet production goals and deliveries. This position is fully responsible and actively involved in the execution and follow through of the supply chain management process including supplier selection, supplier management (quality, on-time delivery, and cost), purchase order placement, material receipt, warehousing, and invoicing of received material in order to meet customer expectations for a quality product delivered on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Purchasing – negotiate contracts and pricing; research new suppliers as needed; monitor inventory, make purchases; prepare and place POs; receive and inspect materials, review and confirm proper documentation, and verify any shortages and contact suppliers. Enter invoices for received materials in a timely fashion, and position materials in the defined inventory location.

Inventory Control – develop and implement procedures for storage and distribution of supplies; develop and implement inventory tracking system; conduct cycle counts, research discrepancies; and manage obsolete raw materials. Maintain production system integrity. Maintain part and lead time information.

This is a hands-on position at a manufacturing plant requiring enthusiasm and energy for purchasing and inventory management. We are looking for a meticulous, self-motivated, detail oriented individual and team player who will take full ownership and responsibility for the day-to-day duties which include:

  • Placing purchase orders with qualified suppliers to meet company standards, production schedules, while maintaining good supplier relationships, on time delivery, and cost controls.
  • Controlling the cost of purchased materials within budget and generating cost reduction action initiatives.
  • Maintaining and supporting company inventory turns and on-time delivery.
  • Assisting with pull and kit materials as specified by daily demand.
  • Performing real-time inventory tracking transactions to ensure stock quantities are 100% accurate.
  • Performing cycle counts and resolving discrepancies, reporting any variances to Production Management and Engineering; applying corrective actions as required.
  • Becoming proficient with our ERP system.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

Experience:

  • Purchasing: 5 years (Preferred)

Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Technical knowledge required.
  • HS Graduate; Associates or BS/A required.
  • 5 years of purchasing, inventory and warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of fluid suystems, FIFO and ERP systems preferred;
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas, share technical information, communicate well with all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and critical thinking ability to be able to evaluate, interpret information and procedures, to make timely decisions and improvements while functioning in a close work environment.
  • Able to apply sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of routine and non-routine issues.
  • Self-motivated, stress and pressure resistant; a quick and willing learner open to new ideas and improvement; a team player.
  • Computer literate with intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, internally and externally, and work with cross-functional partners.
  • Problem-solving, use resolution and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail, real-time entry, and record keeping a must.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Experience:

  • Purchasing / Inventory Control: 3 years (Preferred)
