Job Title: Field Superintendent

The Field Superintendent will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site operations for commercial glazing projects, ensuring work is executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role is critical in managing labor, material, and equipment resources while maintaining clear and effective communication with project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker with advanced organizational skills and a strong ability to lead and motivate teams. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Schedules, supervises, coordinates, inspects, and certifies the work of the entire crew
  • Coordinates all delivery requests, pallet schedules, and equipment rentals
  • Supervises the storage of glass, glazing materials, and tools on the jobsite
  • Ensures all items are safely stored and secured and only accessible by 8G personnel for installation and proper use
  • Instructs personnel in the proper use of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Prepares corresponding reports, procedures, and policies
  • Implements accident preventative measures through continuous training
  • Plans, directs, and supervises the glass and glazing activities performed by installers
  • Manages quality assurance and quality control
  • Manages budgets – e.g., estimated man hours, rental equipment, per diem
  • Conducts on sight employee orientations
  • Manages field labor, budgets, and manpower on a 3-week rolling schedule
  • Orders, schedules, and coordinates all equipment
  • Conducts field measures and layout
  • Manages daily timesheets
  • Coordination with project managers
  • Communicates and trains employees on safety oversight daily

 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Expertise with the glazing trade and installation methods of most glazing systems, including storefront, curtain wall, window wall, doors, and hardware.  
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills and highly detail oriented
  • Ability to manage and direct multiple scopes of work in a project simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of job cost estimates of materials and labor
  • 7 years of experience
  • OSHA 30 certified
  • Lift, Hoist, and Forklift certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Boom and Manlift certification
  • Familiar with AAMA 501.2 water testing is preferred
