Description

Set up, monitor and troubleshoot plastic injection-molding machines. Troubleshooting tasks might include dealing with inconsistent material, faulty equipment, human error, and preventing defects from occurring. The Manufacturing Process Technician is responsible for all aspects of the injection mold processes including operation, repair, and maintenance of injection mold equipment to ensure final product meets established quality standards and cycle times

Essential Functions

  • Installs molds when Mold Setter is not available
    • Ensuring mold is installed properly & safely on machine platens
  • Installs, sets up and ensures all needed axillary equipment is functioning correctly
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate hoists and other equipment in a safe manner
  • Understands how to confirm/install/set; water lines, die height, ejection stroke, nozzles, heaters, hot runner controllers, hot oil heaters, and other equipment
  • Follows and understands how to adjust machine parameters according to the mold set-up sheets
  • Starts machines up, checks the part quality, has QA confirm and puts the machine in production, notify the Supervisor and operator
  • Ensures machine is set to run at standard cycle time
  • Ability to read product drawings
  • Able to use equipment required to check the quality
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot processing issues with an acceptable outcome
  • Completes ALL paperwork and signs off orders in timely and completely
  • Maintain an organized and clean production area ensuring a safe work environment
  • Report timely all safety, quality & machine issues to supervision
  • Follows all procedures, rules and works in a safe manner
  • Ensure injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and connected automated systems are set to regulation parameters, meet quality standards and all production goals.
  • Set up and start up molding machines, read blueprints, and check products with calipers, optical comparators, and other testing methods and devices
  • Provide feedback on mold design and assist tool and die makers to dial in each mold for optimal cycle time and quality
  • Monitor and troubleshoot processing problems, perform preventive maintenance tasks, and document process changes
  • Are able to apply all aspects of scientific molding.
  • Understand the importance of reducing and re-using material scrap to protect our environment and save costs.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Required Knowledge: 

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Previous experience in related field is preferred
