Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Aide to join our Athletics Physical Therapy team. The Physical Therapy Aide will support the Athletics Physical Therapist in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment, and performing administrative tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assistance:

    • Assist physical therapists in preparing patients for therapy sessions.
    • Help patients with exercises and mobility tasks, ensuring correct form and technique.
    • Provide support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
  • Facility Maintenance:

    • Ensure therapy equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
    • Prepare and set up therapy equipment and supplies for each session.
    • Disinfect equipment and treatment areas according to established protocols.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records as needed.
    • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a professional manner.
    • Assist with filing, data entry, and other clerical tasks as needed.
  • Communication and Teamwork:

    • Communicate effectively with patient and healthcare team members.
    • Report any patient concerns or changes in condition to the physical therapist and Director of Sports Medicine
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure optimal patient care and clinic efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a health-related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or therapy setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients and team members.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physical therapy techniques, and medical terminology is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using office software and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to [weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and assist with patient mobility.

Work Environment:

  • This position involves working in a clinical setting with exposure to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation.
  • The role requires adherence to safety and infection control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Open to all levels of Pacific University students
  • Qualifies for Federal Work Study funding for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Able to manage and maintain sensitive and confidential information, ensuring it is handled securely and in compliance with HIPAA regulations and Pacific University’s policies and procedures.
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills including the ability to work with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty, and community members.
