The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is hiring three social media specialists who will work as a team to bring awareness to student and faculty academic activities, events and achievements in the College of Arts and Sciences. Successful applicants will plan, write, and distribute marketing and communications materials on a variety of social media platforms. Responsibilities include building a following on multiple social media platforms, attending CAS events, and regularly posting exciting happenings in the college.  Yes, you will get paid to attend cool events and create an active social media presence!

You will have the opportunity to learn tips and techniques for social media marketing from external experts. Expectations: 

  • Commit to 5-6 hours/week paid student employment
  • Attend select CAS events and bi-weekly team meetings
  • Attend at least one individual meeting with supervisor each semester to discuss professional development and academic connections
  • Work as scheduled and maintain strong communication with supervisor regarding variations and necessary absences
  • Submit time cards accurately, completely, and on time

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, write, and distribute marketing and communications materials on a variety of social media platforms.
  • Build a following on multiple social media platforms.
  • Attending CAS events.
  • Regularly post exciting happenings in the college.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of social media platforms and a desire to use them
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to listen well
  • Ability to work as a team member and give and take direction from others
  • Interest in working with diverse student groups, including those with personal identities or personal perspectives different from your own
  • Ability to act as a representative of the college and university with self-awareness and diplomacy

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Inclination to take initiative and follow through on projects

Length of Employment: Full academic year; 5-6 hours per week expected
