FWS - Athletic Game Operations / Event Management

 

Purpose

Student workers will be asked to fill one or more positions related to Pacific University (Oregon) athletic game operations and internal / external event management. 

Available Positions

  • Bat Test Assistant:  Assist with compression testing of bats slated to be used by home and visiting teams during competition.
  • Box Office Assistant:  Assist with sale of tickets to Pacific University (Oregon) basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and wrestling competitions.
  • Concession Assistant:  Assist with sale of concession during athletic events as well as as well as pre- and post-competition inventory counts.
  • Event Set Up / Break Down Assistant:  Assist with pre- and post- competition set up / breakdown of Pacific University (Oregon) athletic events.
  • Gate Monitor:  Ensures spectators do not gain entry to access points designated for use by student athletes, coaches and game officials.
  • On-Court Support Assistant – Basketball / Volleyball:  Assists with ball retrieval and floor sweeping during Pacific University (Oregon) basketball and volleyball competitions.
  • On-Field Support Assistant – Lacrosse / Soccer:  Assist with ball retrieval during Pacific University (Oregon) lacrosse and soccer competitions.
  • Officials / Visiting Team Liaison – Greets officials and visiting teams, leads to assigned locker spaces, escorts to and from competition space and helps address any pre- and post-competition needs that may arise.
  • Parking Lot Attendant – Assist with monitoring parking lots designated for use during Pacific University (Oregon) athletic events.

Qualifications

  • Must be a student attending Pacific University (Oregon)
  • Must be eligible to receive Federal Work Study funds
  • Creative thinker

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess a positive and enthusiastic spirit
  • Detail-oriented
  • Works collaboratively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in using computers and similar electronic devices
  • Comfortable working long hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Comfortable with physical work, occasionally lifting / moving upwards of 70 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in a variety of weather
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of departmental administration
  • Comfortable interacting with third-party operational contacts / vendors
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Appropriate certifications in First Aid / CPR, AED, driving a utility vehicle and proper use of a ladder are required within an appropriate time of hire
  • Willingness to comply with all departmental personnel, safety, quality and housekeeping policies, practices and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all department matters
