POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Flight Follower plays a crucial role in coordinating and tracking aircraft movements to ensure safe and
efficient flight operations. This position involves monitoring flight progress, communicating with flight crews and
air traffic control, and providing support to ensure on time departures and arrivals. The Flight Follower will
properly manage the resources in the SOC.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The Flight Follower’s duties include:  

1. Generate an initial Pre-Flight Planning using known payload and weather and NOTAMS for the Departure, Enroute, Destination, and Alternates.  

2. File flight releases with ATC and ensuring proper procedures to prevent possible ATC delays between ATC and crews.  

3. Send the final computed Flight release electronically or in paper format to the crew or station (handler) where the aircraft is taking off from.  

4. Amend flight releases as needed. However, if any other document is amended or changed, the Flight Follower is responsible for informing crews.  

5. Monitoring the progress of the flight at all times.  

6. Issuing necessary instructions and information for the safety of the flight, and  

7. Cancelling or re-releasing a flight if, in his/her opinion or the opinion of the Director of Operations or Captain (PIC), the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.  

8. Ensure all documentation is stored properly for a minimum of 3 months. CFR 121.697 

9. Maintain Operational Control as delegated by the Director of Operations and keep all employees and departments informed of any updates, changes, diversions, system malfunction or any other special situation. 

10. Perform other duties assigned by the Director or Manager of SOC. 

11. Assist in emergency response procedures and crisis management situations as needed. 

QUALIFICATION:
Flight Followers will have knowledge and understanding of the 7AIR flight planning and flight following process.

• Candidate must be a qualified FAA Certificated Dispatcher, or Completed the FAA Approved Dispatcher training from an approved Part 65 School within the last 2 months and have plans and show evidence that he/she plans to complete within no more than 2 additional months.  

• Have been employed by an FAA certified Part 135 or Part 121 operations as flight follower or dispatcher or by an FAA Part 129 certified operations as Dispatcher or flight follower.  

• Demonstrate the ability to communicate with others, and in the opinion of the interviewer, be able to work under pressure. The candidate must show proper use and a common sense sufficient to cover the operation. 

• Strong knowledge of DRM & CRM procedures.  

• Candidate MUST read, speak, understand and comprehend the English language.
