Overview

The Permit Coordinator will be responsible for managing and processing permits required for construction. They serve as a liaison between project teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure all necessary permits are obtained in a timely and compliant manner.

 

Reports To:               Director of OSP Engineering / Permitting Team Lead

Job Status:                Exempt

 

  • Research and identify the permits required for various projects based on jurisdictional requirements.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Establishes, fosters, and maintains relationships with permitting agencies, including local, county and state DOTs
  • Serve as the point of contact between the company and government agencies, municipalities, and regulatory bodies
  • Address inquiries or requests for additional information from permitting authorities
  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, construction, project management) to gather required documentation.
  • Creates PO requests for invoicing on the OSP engineering and Permitting team
  • Process payment for permitting fees and costs
  • Submit requests for actions with permitting and licensing partners
  • Identify problems and shortfalls and propose solutions.
  • Provide operational support to permit engineers.
  • Use SiteTracker to:
    • track permit status and follow up with relevant agencies to ensure timely approval.
    • maintain and monitor key performance indicators, data integrity and date milestones.
  • Prepare documentation for Michigan Metro Act for access to Rights of Ways in cities
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Pole application submission and Pole Make Ready coordination experience a plus
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in related area preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in related disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks when appropriate.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience working with local municipalities and regulatory agencies preferred
  • SiteTracker experience preferred
