Summary: Reviews change requests to appropriately evaluate, classify, and rate individuals and groups for insurance. Responsible for achieving the established customer service, profitability, and efficient operation corporate goals by performing the following duties. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains customer service levels, profitability, and efficient operations as outlined by underwriting measurements. These levels will be measured utilizing underwriting audits, workload reports, and agent surveys.
  • Under direction and within authority, reviews and underwrites endorsement requests.
  • Performs processing responsibilities to the extent necessary for underwriting productivity.
  • Maintains current knowledge of underwriting workflow, procedures, and systems changes.
  • As directed, properly communicates with agents.
  • Documents files and properly closes out work per file.
  • Order underwriting reports, including but not limited to, Motor Vehicle reports & Loss reports.
  • Participates in company meetings and educational opportunities.
  • Sorts and distributes work for underwriting and processing.
  • Performs entry-level processing training and assists as directed with advanced training.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned by the Director of Farm & Commercial Underwriting. 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: College degree and/or a minimum of two years of insurance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. 
  • The ideal candidate should possess proficiency in Internet applications, spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets), and word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word or Google Docs). 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and other basic mathematical concepts with accuracy and efficiency. 

 

Physical Requirements: The work environment is typical of an office setting, where the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
