Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Minimum of seven years of claim adjusting experience with preference given to applicants with at least two years of supervisory/management experience.
Promotional potential and organizational progressions: Director of Casualty Claims or Director of Property Claims.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; conveys complex information clearly to insureds, agents, and attorneys, etc, handles emotions in conversations.
- Mathematical & Analytical Skills: Understands company claims policies and effectively communicates them to staff; evaluates information from multiple sources.
- Decision-making & Problem Solving: Interprets and applies legal concepts, caseloads, contracts, and policies; communicates decisions to staff.
- Relationship Management: directly interacts with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, doctors, vendors, and internal staff; handles sensitive situations with diplomacy.
- Industry Knowledge & Technical Skills: knowledgeable in insurance coverages, tort law, claim values, and claims management techniques; proficient with computer systems and data entry; strong time management and attendance.
Certifications: AIC, Involved in CPCU classes, and ongoing education as required.
Physical Requirements: The work environment is typical of an office setting, where the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
