ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • is all about handling transactions, providing great customer service, and keeping things running smoothly at the point of sale. Whether it’s behind the counter, or in the café, cashiers are often the last face a customer sees—so it's a key role in making a good impression. 

  • As Hostess for Dinner, you would be key in creating the atmosphere and greeting all guests and answering questions. 

 

SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM  

  • Reports to the Food & Beverage Director / Sous Chef 

  • Supports special F&B staff   

  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Handling Transactions: Scanning items, processing payments (cash, card, digital), and giving correct change. 

  • Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving basic issues or complaints. 

  • Maintaining the Register: Balancing the cash drawer, counting money at the start and end of shift, and reporting discrepancies. 

  • Bagging Items: Helping customers pack or bag their purchases (especially in retail/grocery settings). 

  • Keeping the Area Clean: Making sure the checkout counter is tidy, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies (bags, receipt paper, etc.). 

  • Following Procedures: Sticking to company policies on returns, discounts, and safety protocols 

 

HOSTESS RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Greeting Guests: Warmly welcoming guests as they arrive, often with a smile and a friendly attitude. 

  • Seating Guests: Managing the seating chart, guiding guests to their tables, and sometimes providing menus or explaining wait times. 

  • Managing Reservations & Waitlists: Handling phone or online bookings, updating reservation systems, and managing waitlists during busy times. 

  • Coordinating with Staff: Communicating with servers and kitchen staff to manage table availability and flow of service. 

  • Answering Questions: Responding to customer inquiries about the menu, hours, or any special events. 

  • Handling Complaints: Addressing minor customer concerns or directing them to a manager when necessary. 

  • Maintaining the Front Area: Keeping the entryway tidy, menus stocked, and the ambiance inviting. 

  

  

Qualifications  

EXPERIENCE: 

Prior Experience: 

  • Previous experience preferred 

IT Expertise:  

  • Advanced knowledge of computer software (POS SilverWare) and web analytics tools is preferred.  

Education:  

  • No formal education required; High School diploma or equivalent desired 

Subject Expertise:  

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests. 

  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor. 

  • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy 

  • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision 

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment 

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:  

  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook. 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures. 

  • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues. 

  • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Sunday 6am - 12pm (EST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
