Position Purpose:
Catering Sales Manager is responsible for calling on past and future social and corporate food and beverage accounts, follows up on new leads and assists with the assurance of continued sales growth of the Catering Department. Assures all events are set properly and guests are satisfied with arrangements. Also responsible for outside sales calls.
Examples of Duties:
Essential Functions:
- Actively solicits established business to ensure the repeat via telephone as well as soliciting new business by cold calling via telephone, cold calls and by appointments. Obtains and records all information required by groups to be approved by the Director of Catering. Performs continued follow-ups with each account, i.e., signed contracts, guarantees, individual guest room reservations, etc.
- Checks meeting rooms prior to client arrival for accuracy of set-up, cleanliness, heating, cooling, proper lighting. Works with Banquet staff to ensure client requirements are met. On-site support to Banquet staff and culinary staff during events to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handles inquiries for corporate social functions, creates solid trace system and establishes priorities to ensure that each group is met and all requirements are agreed upon.
- Attends daily BEO meetings as needed.
- Completes special projects for the Director of Catering.
- Confers with Banquet Chef on custom menus, pricing, etc
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel, including holidays.
Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
Answers the phone and assists in Sales & Catering office as needed. Maintains communication with all departments concerning upcoming events.
Confers with Director of Catering to improve service, present new ideas, presentation, cost, sales and profit goals.
Assists Director of Catering in preparing the annual budget.

Excellent guest relations, ability to supervise and communicate what is required with the staff.
Understands meeting room capacities and meeting configurations.
Qualification Standards:
Education:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma required, college degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum two years of catering sales experience in a hotel preferred
Licenses or certificates:
None required.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
