Description

Objective: Oversees NJHA Princeton Claims Management, delivering a high-level of organizational excellence and providing exceptional customer service and value, while generating revenue to support the operations of NJHA.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises all NJHA Princeton Claims Management staff, including claims examiners and administrative staff. Completes performance evaluations, distributes workloads, identifies recruitment and promotion opportunities, and ensures succession planning for the department.
  • Oversee the efficient and timely operations of the department at a high standard of client service excellence. Under the oversight of the Chief Operating Officer, sets department policies and operating procedures.
  • Ensures department adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and NJHA policies.
  • Supports claims examiners as needed to prepare for appeal hearings and/or investigates claims by contacting employer(s) to ascertain facts.
  • Make recommendations to clients regarding the extent to which unemployment claims and appeals should be pursued. Writes written appeals as necessary.
  • Attends Tribunal Appeal and Board of Review hearings as the employer representative. Prepares employer witnesses in advance.
  • Works as the primary contact to State Officials on behalf of client members for unemployment issues.
  • Maintains, and ensures staff maintain strong client relationships with existing members.
  • Responds timely to client requests for information and reports.
  • Maintains expertise on matters concerning unemployment insurance and knowledge of relevant employment law.
  • Advises members on unemployment insurance strategy.
  • Provides education and training for clients and staff in unemployment matters.
  • Prepares and delivers quarterly reports to the Unemployment Compensation Reserve Fund Management Committee, providing an overview of the department’s operations, unemployment trends, policy issues, and other updates of importance to the committee.
  • Identifies opportunities to utilize existing data to analyze trends, generate insights, and ensure data-driven decisions to inform members and to optimize the department’s performance.
  • Identifies and implements streamlined business processes to enhance productivity and member satisfaction and improve operational efficiencies of the department.
  • Utilizes productivity metrics to track performance and measure efficiency, across clients, staff, and the department’s operations.
  • Identifies opportunities for business growth through the expansion of services to existing or new clients and create business presentations to potential new clients.
  • Develops an annual business plan, budget, quarterly pipeline and monitors results.
  • Monitors and reports on Key Performance Indicators.
  • Participates in the development and communication of client rates and assists in the collection of member contributions as necessary.
  • Markets the program to prospective clients and identify and assist in marketing related products and services that appeal to Human Resources professionals.
  • Abides by the terms and conditions of the Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of three years’ experience working with unemployment claims. Advanced degree preferred. Good working knowledge of federal and state employment law. Experience with business operations and workflow efficiency. Excellent communication skills. Legal training or experience with government hearings preferred.
