Carpet Tech, a local floor cleaning and disinfecting company is growing our TEAM. We are looking for a Diesel Mechanic. The candidate must be able to diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul trucks or automobiles. Be part of a hardworking, dedicated team committed to quality and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.

  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, or pressure gauges.
  • Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Align front ends and suspension systems.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D)
  • 5+ years of manual labor experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Pass drug screening
  • Knowledge of principles of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Must have enough vision to inspect repair work.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with customers and employees.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.

  • Pay range $30-$35 based on experience
