Summary 

The Customer Service Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with the front desk and concession operations at Sholem Aquatic Center. 


Qualifications 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous cash handling and food service experience.
  • Ability and aptitude to use a computer with touch screen, mouse, and keyboard data entry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff and work cooperatively and harmoniously with people in an enthusiastic manner.
  • Understanding of accounting for daily receipts and cash control policies.
  • Ability to calculate cash transactions and make change.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage admissions and concessions operations.
  • Previous experience leading and supervising staff preferred.

Supervision 

The Customer Service Assistant Manager reports directly to the Customer Service Manager


Classification 

  • Non-exempt, hourly 
  • Seasonal (not to exceed six (6) months) 
  • Season is March to September 

Training – Can be obtained through Champaign Park District  

  • First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification 
  • Heads Up Concussion training 
  • Mandated reporter training 
  • Harassment prevention training 
  • Bloodborne pathogen training 
  • Recreation software system training 
  • Drivers training and test 
  • Facility training 
  • Food Handler Manager Certification, must be completed within 30 days 

Essential Functions 

  • Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves 
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times. 
  • Concession and pool admission sales 
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the food service area and equipment 
  • Food preparation, proper storage, and inventory 
  • Compliance with opening and closing procedures to include inventory and cash control procedures 
  • Serve the public and work with fellow staff in a courteous and efficient manner 
  • Receive all incoming telephone calls 
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all pool programs and events 
  • Assist with special functions 
  • Assist with training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating Front Desk and Concessions Workers 
  • Assist with keeping accurate records of pool revenue, food sales, and daily deposits 
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures of facility 
  • Supervision of aquatics concession activities ensuring daily facility cleanliness, equipment cleanliness, properly stored food, and correctly prepared food items 
  • Assist with pre-season and in-season staff meetings and training 
  • Assist with booking groups, birthday parties, and rentals for Sholem Aquatic Center

Physical Considerations 

  • Job involves prolonged periods of standing and movement around the facility, especially during concession and pool admission sales. 
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance duties require physical effort, including lifting, carrying, and handling equipment and supplies. 

Environmental Considerations 

  • Given the aquatic nature of the facility, employees may be exposed to outdoor elements such as sunlight, heat, and varying weather conditions.
