About PGC Basketball

PGC Basketball develops leaders, on and off the basketball court. Serving players, parents, and coaches, our mission is to inspire and equip every player & coach everywhere. We provide intense, no-nonsense basketball training designed to teach players to play the game intelligently, to train purposefully, to be 'coaches on the court,' and to be leaders in practice, in games, and in everyday life. We've impacted the lives of over 100,000 players and 7,000 coaches already, and continually expand our reach.

Our staff is a passionate team, committed to creating life-changing experiences for players, parents, coaches, and each other. We have been fortunate to attract some of the finest leaders and teachers in the game of basketball, and proven talent across a range of professional expertise. When you join our team, you'll be surrounded by other passionate, like-minded individuals, who will both support you and stretch you as you grow and change.

What We Believe

  • We believe every player deserves to know how to unlock their potential.
  • We believe every player deserves to discover how to be a leader on and off the court.
  • We believe every player deserves to know how to use the game to propel themselves to success in life.

This is the heart behind all we do at PGC.

About the Position:

The Safety Supervisor will be a contracted, seasonal PGC camp staff member but with significantly different responsibilities. Their primary responsibility is supervision in the dorms between gym sessions and at night. The Safety Supervisor will have no responsibilities during class times but will have responsibilities during gym sessions. The Safety Supervisor MUST be First Aid & CPR certified to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Safety Supervisor will have no responsibilities before 10 am, unless an athlete has slept in and the Site Manager needs the Safety Supervisor to accompany them to wake the athlete. The Site Manager & Safety Supervisor will decide if Basket Instructors assist with wake-ups.
  • Following lunch and dinner, the Safety Supervisor will go to the dorms to provide supervision if athletes are permitted to go to the dorms.
  • The Safety Supervisor will remain in the dorms until notified that all the athletes are present in the classroom session. This will ensure attendance sheets are checked every classroom session
  • The Safety Supervisor will patrol the boys’ floors and lobby continually (not periodically) with rotating male BIs from the end of the gym session until 11:30 pm at Playmaker College camps and 12:30 am at Scoring College/Point Guard College camps.
  • The Safety Supervisor will be expected to sit as close as possible to the primary exit and be one of the first to eat so they can be the first to leave and get back to the dorms for supervision, except during staff meetings.
  • The Safety Supervisor will participate in all staff meetings, as athletes will be required to stay in the cafeteria until the meeting has finished. If the meeting runs long or the athletes get restless, the Safety Supervisor will leave the meeting early to provide dorm supervision.
  • The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for tracking the following Director Quality Assurance Metrics during all gym sessions:
    • The time athletes spend doing vs listening/watching (the expected ratio is 3:1)
    • The number of hydration breaks per gym session and the time per break
    • The number of staff huddle-ups per session
    • How many times the Director had a huddle-up with the Observing Coaches.
    • Whether the Director spent time at every basket during the gym session.
    • Once Safety Supervisors have recorded the demo & explanation times, they will provide support at baskets that need an extra set of hands and eyes.
  • The Safety Supervisor will also keep an eye out and connect with athletes who get injured or frustrated.
  • At the end of the morning & afternoon gym sessions, the Safety Supervisor will give any relevant dorm announcements (e.g., when athletes can go to the dorms).
  • If there is an emergency or inclement weather, the Safety Supervisor will support the Site Manager to ensure our emergency protocols are upheld.
  • The Safety Supervisor will also ensure vehicle best practices are adhered to.
  • Assist in injury reporting, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Uphold and enforce camp rules and regulations, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • Participate in pre-camp preparation and post-camp evaluations to continuously assess and improve safety practices and procedures.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any safety concerns or incidents that may arise during evening hours or lunch breaks.
