Klickitat Valley Health is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Human Resources Generalist to support the daily operations of our HR department. In this role, you’ll serve as a key point of contact for employees, providing responsive guidance on HR policies, benefits, and leave, while ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with state and federal standards. The HR Generalist will also help maintain HR systems, produce reports and metrics, and contribute to employee engagement and recognition initiatives that strengthen our workplace culture. GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources Department with a primary focus on compliance, employee record management, HR systems, reporting, and employee engagement. This position serves as a first point of contact for employees with HR questions, ensuring responsive, accurate, and customer-focused service.

The Generalist provides support for benefits and leave processes, maintains personnel files and compliance records, assists with HRIS/LMS administration, and produces HR reports and metrics. The role also contributes to employee engagement and recognition programs, helping to foster a positive workplace culture.

By ensuring accurate data, regulatory compliance, and exceptional employee service, the HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of KVH’s HR function.

Education:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible HR experience or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates competence for the role.
  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred or willingness to obtain within 1 year.

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience with compliance activities, personnel file audits, and HR recordkeeping strongly preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration, leave processes, or HRIS systems (such as Paycom, Relias, or Jostle) is strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare HR experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience producing HR reports and metrics preferred.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of HR practices across benefits, leave, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and LMS systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to respond promptly and professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to support audits, maintain compliance with labor laws and accreditation requirements, and ensure personnel files meet state and CMS standards.
  • Ability to draft professional communications, including reports, emails, memos, and informational materials.
  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities and high-volume periods.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, leave, and HRIS/LMS system support; escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Support benefits and leave administration processes, including enrollments, changes, documentation, and communication.
  • Maintain accurate and complete HR files, databases, and systems in compliance with recordkeeping and regulatory requirements.
  • Track and report compliance items, including exit surveys, performance appraisal completion, OIG checks, and HR metrics (monthly, quarterly, annual reporting)
  • Conduct and support personnel file audits to ensure compliance with licenses, certifications, training, evaluations, and CMS/state requirements.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely entry of employee data into HR and payroll systems to support organizational compliance, operational efficiency, and the integrity of workforce records
  • Handle departmental logistics, including supply ordering, correspondence, drafting minutes, committee support, and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain HR policy documents, required postings, and compliance records.
  • Produce and maintain HR reports and metrics (e.g., turnover, exit surveys, performance appraisal completion, recognition program participation) for leadership review.
  • Provide support for audits, accreditation surveys, and other compliance reviews.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation logistics, ensuring timely completion of HR documentation and system access.
  • Support employee engagement and recognition efforts by planning and coordinating events, benefit fairs, and wellness activities.
  • Process and respond to employment verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects and initiatives, including correspondence, scheduling, and data tracking.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other HR team members as needed.
  • Represent HR and the organization in a manner consistent with the KVH Core Accountabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
