This part-time hybrid position is a great fit for someone who appreciates flexibility and work-life balance. At 30-hours a week, this position will include benefits and offers a mostly remote work experience with 2-4 days/month onsite. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Staff Accountant role is responsible for the general accounting and payroll services function for a small family-owned business. This includes handling of Accounts Receivable including limited collections, Accounts Payable, Payroll and time tracking, Bank Reconciliations, Fixed Asset Accounting, General Ledger Accounting, and financial systems management. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES:

  1. Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing), and database management.

  2. Audits workflow to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized.

  3. Prepares, coordinates, and enters monthly journal entries.

  4. Prepares and coordinates general ledger reconciliations.

  5. Provides data for periodic financial statements preparation.

  6. Assures internal control compliance.

  7. Manages and reviews monthly closing process.

  8. Manages the relevant financial related systems.

  9. Performs fixed asset and capital project accounting.

  10. Prepares and submits annual property tax assessment.

  11. Processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis including making necessary adjustments in work assignments, schedules, and timecards in timekeeping system.

  12. W2 Management

  13. Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.

  14. Posts low volume daily payments to customers open receivables.

  15. Responsible for Accounts Payable transactions including processing monthly rents, utilities, three-way match of PO to receipt to invoice and processing in ERP system. Responsible for troubleshooting issues on AP invoices which do not match.

  16. Works directly with vendors request for payment status, invoice copies or statements on an as needed basis.

  17. Responsible for company credit card program, collecting statements with supporting documentation from card holder monthly and ensuring proper GL accounts are assigned in web-based application.

  18. Responsible for generating the AP weekly check run.

  19. Develop training material and standard work procedure documentation along with assisting in accounting policy development.

  20. Quarterly 401k audits of scheduled deductions in payroll system compared to 401k website.

  21. Manage 401k annual audit and 5500 reporting.1099 reporting and generation.

  22. Assists in the development and implementation of "best practices” and lean processes across the organization to ensure efficiency resulting in reduced costs, improved customer service, and increased employee satisfaction.

  23. Develops skills to maintain existing Power BI tools.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, plus at least 5 years relevant experience; equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

  2. Full month-end closing experience.

  3. Payroll administration experience.

  4. Working knowledge of GAAP and FASB.

  5. Excellent in analytical and problem-solving ability.

  6. Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation.

  7. Superior MS Excel skills.

  8. Working knowledge of other MS Office and ERP systems.

  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  10. Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities; able to organize and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.  Ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

  11. Critical thinking skills, using logic and analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.

  12. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player in varied capacities.  Ability to clearly and diplomatically communicate at multiple levels of the organization. 

  13. Ability to act in the best interests of the company, maintaining objectivity with any issues that may arise, to resolve conflict, remove obstacles, and solve problems.

  14. Confidence and ability to lead and motivate peers and subordinates alike. Supervisory skills a plus.
