Job Summary:

The Business Intelligence SQL Developer works to build and maintain SQL Databases and data pipelines. Under the general supervision of the Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Manager, the Business Intelligence SQL Developer participates in the cleaning, transformation, and loading of a wide variety of source data into the organization’s data warehouse. The Business Intelligence SQL Developer will work closely others in the Business Intelligence team to develop SQL and manage data sets in a way that aligns with organizational goals for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence. The Business Intelligence SQL Developer will handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and work well under pressure within aggressive timelines. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Optimize database, query, and procedure performance.

  • Create complex queries, functions, and stored procedures for business intelligence reporting, data ingestion & cleaning, and custom applications.

  • Troubleshoot and analyze queries to resolve problems.

  • Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of database architecture.

  • Participate in the development of ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) processes, data modeling, data normalization, and build/maintenance of the data warehouse, data marts, and supporting database system to ensure efficient operation. 

  • Participate in the development of data processes and standards including the data strategy, data governance, and data access and security.

  • Participate in the development of data automation systems for various stakeholders around the organization.

  • Manage and administer SQL databases, Azure data systems, and other data storage and transformation tools.

  • Collaborate with executives and other business leaders to gather requirements, identify data and reporting needs, and recommend data/automation/reporting/BI solutions. 

  • Evaluate and understand information gathered from multiple sources including electronic medical records, accounting/finance, payroll, and third-party data. 

  • Build and assist with the automation of data gathering for predictive models and forecasts that promote data-driven decision making. 

  • Work with the BI Data Engineers and BI Analysts to use knowledge of the specific data available, forecasting / analysis methods, and visualization capabilities to provide insightful suggestions to business partners.  

  • Build self-service tools to allow stakeholders to drill into and analyze data. 

  • Establish quality metrics to measure the integrity, completeness, and correctness of the data. 

  • Performs other duties, as assigned. 

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License from New York, or a contiguous state (i.e., Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont) OR must have the ability to take ample public transportation to attend meetings in person in the community and in the office as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, DBA or similar role.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or similar, or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in IT or in an OPWDD/care management environment.

  • At least one year of hands on experience with SQL; additional experience with other data-focused programming languages (e.g., Python, R, etc.) is preferred.

  • at least one year of experience  with MS PowerBI or a similar platform.

  • Experience with Azure data tools

  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, and transforming tools and techniques. 

  • Understanding of data warehousing and ETL techniques. 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations. 

  • Technical writing skills. 

  • Excellent attention to detail. 

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills. 

  • Absolute sense of integrity and personal commitment to serving people with I/DD and their families. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication organization and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • Ability to work autonomously.
