LOCATION:                Keshet’s Business Office: 610 Academy Drive Northbrook, Illinois

SUPERVISOR:           Director of Human Resources

WAGES:                     $60,000 to $70,000 annually

JOB STATUS:            Exempt / Full-Time / Salary

SCHEDULE:               Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm / In-office

 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Human Resources Generalist will oversee the HRIS administration, benefits administration, leaves, and workers’ compensation for Keshet.  The Human Resources Generalist will also assist with all aspects of human resources, including performance management, training and development, and compliance.  This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as an HR Generalist, benefits and leave programs, and employee relations.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboarding:  
    • Facilitate the onboarding process by ensuring new hires are properly integrated into the HRIS.
    • Train new hires on employee handbook policies and benefits programs, including preparing materials, delivering information, and providing ongoing support.
  • Benefits Administration:  
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, workers compensation, and leave policies.
    • Reconcile monthly benefit statements for accuracy and compliance.
    • Coordinate with benefit providers to manage enrollments, changes, and terminations.
    • Conduct benefits open enrollment and provide guidance to employees on benefit plan options.
    • Ensure compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Leave Management:
    • Administer and track Leaves such as FMLA, Maternity Leaves, workers’ compensation, restricted work duties, and ADA accommodations.
    • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices benefits and leaves administration.
    • Assist in handling ADA, discrimination, and harassment claims, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • HRIS Administration:
    • Manage HRIS (Human Resources Information System) databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
    • Prepare reports and analytics on HR metrics, trends, and key performance indicators to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts for program directors, finance, and administration.
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations, and serve as a liaison with benefit providers and vendors.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of payroll and benefits operations.
  • Employee Support:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for benefits, workers comp, leave policies, and verifications of employment.
    • Resolve employee issues related to HR in a timely and professional manner, fostering a positive employee experience.
  • Performance Management:
    • Assist with the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback, and development planning.
    • Provide guidance and support to managers in conducting performance reviews, addressing performance issues, and recognizing employee achievements.
  • Compliance and Policy Administration:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
    • Assist with updating and maintaining employee handbooks, policies, and procedures, communicating changes to staff and providing guidance on interpretation and application.
    • Prepare and submit all necessary EEOC, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and benefits reports to government agencies, including audits.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation in compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support the HR function and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in human resources management, with a focus on employee relations and compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly related to disability accommodation and diversity and inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS implementation preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
