This is a hybrid position that can be located out of St. Joseph, MI or Buchanan, MI.

 

GENERAL SUMMARY (What is done and why)

The Security Manager will develop and implement an enterprise-wide physical security program and underlying policies and procedures.  This position is responsible to maintain effective working relationships with state and local governmental agencies to provide the latest data on security issues and cooperation on property security incidents.  The Security Manager is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of proactive approaches to ensure Credit Union assets are protected, losses are minimized, and member/employee safety is maximized. This position will be responsible for the oversight of all physical security related equipment necessary to protect the Credit Union’s ATMs, branches, and corporate buildings.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, IN PRIORITY ORDER (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)

  1. Responsible for maintaining industry knowledge regarding physical security practices, trends and technologies and applying this knowledge toward the development, implementation, and maintenance of corporate-wide security related protocol. Responsible to oversee the administration, programming and troubleshooting of security systems across the organization Time: 45%
    • Identify and manage potential security risk as it relates to branch and corporate operations and safety of members and staff.  Ensure procedures and policies are compliant with laws and regulations and documented in the Physical Security Standards Manual.
    • Manage the monitoring processes for branch, corporate, and ATM cameras/ DVRs to ensure continual and optimal levels of security.
    • Manage alarm and badge panel access and access levels auditing process. Evaluate matrix to ensure alignment with access requirements of current staff.
    • Oversee physical security related tickets and incidents response to established Service Level Agreements utilizing Cherwell Service Management and Salesforce.
  2. Support and drive actions to prioritize plans and deliverables from risk assessment through delivery of security equipment on corporate build and remodel projects.  Provides oversight with design, development and implementation for security system installations.  Time: 15%
    • Conduct site risk assessments to identify potential risk and create risk mitigation protocol.
    • Obtain proposals for security related equipment ensuring organizational requirements are met.
    • Ensure vendor progress is aligned with approved project timeline; oversee security equipment installation, testing, and live monitoring in support of soft open date timeline.
    • Conduct project close-out meetings with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  3. Establish priorities and develop objectives, goals, and action plans for physical security to assist in the accomplishment of the department goals, as well as corporate goals and strategies. Monitor and manage progress to ensure personal goals are met on a timely basis. Time: 15%
  4. Serves as first point of contact for escalation of physical security issues and ensuing response to include robbery, burglary, active shooter, bomb threat, suspicious individuals, ATM breach and suspicious items. Time: 10%
  5. Develop, implement and maintain emergency management and physical security safeguards and provide related training to include Robbery, Active Shooter, Workplace Violence and Emergency Action Plans. Time: 10%
  6. Prepare and monitor annual budgets for assigned responsibilities.  Time: 5%

Qualifications

EDUCATION (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or two years of related work experience required.

 

EXPERIENCE (Minimum experience required to perform the duties of this position)

In addition to the education requirement:

  • Three years law enforcement experience
  • One year supervisory/management experience

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Minimum technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)

  • Regulatory knowledge and experience with applicable federal and state laws required.
  • Articulate and persuasive individual who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of staff.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of pertinent laws and the law enforcement community.
  • Excellent verbal, written and platform communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Physical effort generally associated with this position)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position. A great deal of time is spent on the telephone. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed reports and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

Internal - Work is normally performed in climate controlled office environment.  Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; extended hours may be required.

External - Some travel is required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
