Position Overview:
Charleston Southern University is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support the administrative functions of the Library. This role will assist the library staff in managing day-to-day tasks, ensuring that the library operates smoothly and efficiently. The Office Assistant will handle clerical duties, assist with patron services, and support the library’s mission of providing excellent resources and services to students, faculty, and staff.

Library Student Assistant
- Assist with library communications, including answering phones, responding to emails, and relaying messages.
- Help with scheduling and coordination of library events, workshops, and staff meetings.
- Organize and maintain files, records, and library materials.
- Support staff in preparing resources for students and faculty, including updating library catalogs or databases.
- Assist with the check-in and check-out of library materials, and help patrons with general inquiries.
- Manage inventory of office supplies and library resources, ensuring timely reordering as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for students and visitors, providing information and assisting with library policies and procedures.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned to maintain the operational efficiency of the library.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Previous office or library experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with library systems or cataloging is a plus.
Hours:
Part-time, approximately 0-15 hours per week.
Compensation:
Hourly wage, based on university student employment guidelines.
