Position Overview:

The Student Life/Services Department at Charleston Southern University seeks passionate students to fulfill the CSU Mission, Vision and Goals. Provide students with the opportunity to receive experience related to educational and/or career objectives. This position prepares future graduates with integrity who are critical thinkers, skillful communicators and effective collaborators positioned to perform responsible roles in society.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary by role and may include, but are not limited to:

Student Non-profit Assistant:

  • Support CSU's Non-Profit Partnership Programs such as Reading Partners, Boys and Girls Club of the Low Country, Metanoia, Keep North Charleston Beautiful, Trident Literacy Association, Berkeley County School District after school programs, and many more. 
  • All duties based on work with relevant Non-Profit Organizations such as answer phones, perform administrative duties, general maintenance, greeting clients/customers, supporting the daily operations of the non-profit organization. 
  • Will require interview/conversation to determine the best fit
  • This position is an Off-campus work opportunity

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Reliable transportation: Ability to travel off campus
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, Written and Verbal Communication
  • Dependable and Punctual
  • Willingness to work some afterhours events
  • Experience with MS Office programs and social media is encouraged, but not required

Hours:

Part-time, approximately 0-15 hours per week.


Compensation:

Hourly wage, based on university student employment guidelines.

Additional Notes:

  • This position is intended to provide students with a meaningful employment experience that contributes to both their personal development and professional growth.
  • Students enrolled in courses during the semester they are working are FICA exempt.
  • Students not enrolled in the semester are required to pay FICA taxes.
  • Students are not permitted to work during chapel or scheduled class times.

Eligibility/Requirement(s):

  • This position is for all academic levels
  • This position requires reliable transportation for off campus travel
  • This position is currently open to Federal Work Study Students ONLY. If you are unsure of your FWS status please contact the Financial Aid Office. 

Student Employee:

  • Must be an active student at Charleston Southern University.

Federal Work-Study:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Charleston Southern University.
  • Must have completed all documentation required by Financial Aid.
  • Must have accepted their financial aid award.
