
Student Employment – Residence Life Summer Assistant

Position Overview:
The Residence Life Summer Staff Position includes duty of both a Summer RA and Camp Support Staff. This is an opportunity to serve both current CSU students, and visitors who will be on campus throughout the summer with camps.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities vary by role and may include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as a Resident Assistant in a hall of students
• Foster a meaningful and caring community within the hall
• Assist with move-in and move-out for Summer I and II
• Create and plan events for residents
• Conduct monthly room inspections for each room in the hall
• Mediate roommate conflicts and offer solutions
• Serve “on duty” once weekly and select weekends
o Assist with after-hours student needs
o Respond to any student emergencies
• Perform weekly building walkthroughs to ensure buildings and rooms are ready for use.
• Enforce the CSU student handbook policies and uphold the standards of the university
• Assist with preparations, planning, and placements for each week of camp.
• Prepare residence halls with supplies for camp each week
• Participate in weekly camp check-in and check-out sessions
• Perform weekly key audits to identify and correct any issues
• Work directly with SummerSalt leadership to ensure all of their housing needs are met in order to enable their success
• Help with maintenance escorts, when needed
• Empty dehumidifiers and check rooms when needed
• Power wash AC covers
• Assist with Residence Life with the planning of Fall 2025 RA Training
• Share ideas and insight with Residence Life staff for planning of 2025-2026 year
• Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A heart for ministry and a desire to serve others.
- Proficiency in relevant technology and tools (e.g., social media platforms, office software, maintenance tools, etc.).
- Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Hours:
Part-time, approximately 0-15 hours per week.
Compensation:
$10 hourly wage, based on university student employment guidelines.
Housing and meal plan covered for the summer.

- Students enrolled in courses during the semester they are working are FICA-exempt.
- Students not enrolled in the semester are required to pay FICA taxes.
- Students are not permitted to work during scheduled class times.
