Position Overview:

The Admissions Assistant will support the traditional undergraduate Admissions Counselors in various office responsibilities. This role is ideal for a student who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping prospective students navigate the admissions process at a Christian university.

Purpose: Assist in fulfilling CSU Mission, Vision and Goals. Provide student with opportunity to receive experience related to educational or career objective. Prepare future graduate with integrity who are critical thinkers, skillful communicators and effective collaborators positioned to perform responsible roles in society.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary by role and may include, but are not limited to:

•    Assist Admissions Counselors with daily office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, and managing schedules.
•    Provide information and support to prospective students and their families regarding the admissions process, application requirements, and campus life.
•    Help organize and participate in admissions events, such as campus tours, open houses, and information sessions.
•    Maintain and update student records and databases with accurate and timely information.
•    Prepare and distribute admissions materials, including brochures, application packets, and acceptance letters.
•    Assist with data entry and filing of admissions documents.
•    Maintain accurate records of admissions materials in inventory/storage.
•    Give weekly tours as needed.
•    Support the Admissions Office in various administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Charleston Southern University
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and the mission and values of Charleston Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Familiarity with the admissions process and higher education environment.

Work Hours:

Flexible hours to accommodate the Admissions Office needs and student’s class schedules, typically 10-15 hours per week.


Evaluation Procedures: 

Students will be evaluated on their work performance, which includes their ability to follow instructions and to complete work without errors. Students are expected to be punctual and to contact their supervisor if they are late or unable to come to work. Cell phones should be placed on silent while in the workplace and students should only use their cell phones in emergencies.
