Director for Broadcast Services

Summary:  Reporting to the Associate A.D. for External Operations, the Director for Broadcast Services serves provides communications support for all Charleston Southern athletic programs.  This position is responsible for building relationships with local and national media with the goal of increasing coverage and exposure.  The Director for Broadcast Services executes a comprehensive plan to create content for the official athletics website, social media and digital platforms. This position requires evening and weekend work during sporting seasons. 

 

Work Performed: 

  • Primary contact for the Big South Network, ESPN+, and more
  • Responsible for directing, staffing, and producing 70-80 webcasts for the Big South Network annually
  • Maintain production trailer and equipment
  • Create schedule for Big South Network/ESPN+ productions
  • Responsible for staffing production crews including camera operators, replay operator, graphics personnel and on-air talent
  • Involved in the hiring process for all broadcast production part-time staff
  • Create content for CSU's website including - Game recaps/highlights, coach's shows, player features, etc.
  • Distribute highlights to the Big South Conference, local news, ESPN, etc.
  • Film highlights while traveling with various teams, distribute those highlights to local news and edit highlights for CSU's website
  • Assists Assistant A.D. for Communications/PR with organization and supervision at home events
  • Helps coordinate and supervise student workers
  • Maintains and updates CSU Social Media accounts
  • Covers other University-related events for the athletic department

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field preferred.

Experience:  Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience in a field of professional or collegiate athletic communications.  Experience with NewTek TriCaster, 3Play, and Vizrt. Adobe Creative Suite experience including After Effects and Premier desirable. Must have a clear understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
