Summary: Responsible for the supervision of teachers and the coordination of high-quality, evidence-based educational practices across all classrooms. Coordinates the fidelity of implementation and continuous improvement of instructional strategies. Supports staff in identifying and addressing the individual needs of students, creating effective learning environments, and ensuring that each student has the necessary resources to achieve their maximum independence and academic success.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned

  • Works with Director and other leaders to select and implement education curriculum and related programming that align with accreditation and state standards, licensing agencies and in accordance with best practice guidelines.
  •  Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of educational and related service programming and has excellent communication and relationship building skills. 
  • Monitors fidelity of implementation of all educational curricula and practices using various measurement tools and makes recommendations for changes and improvements.
  • Periodically reviews teacher administered assessments, portfolios, and daily data. Works with teachers to adjust programming or goals and objectives as needed to positively impact student and/or classroom growth.
  • Supports teachers to incorporate innovative teaching strategies and technology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Assists in monitoring student files to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and childcare licensing for summer program.
  • Supports teachers in the implementation of curriculum, schedules, and in creating a learning rich environment through classroom arrangement, use of visuals, and access to equipment and supports needed for each student. 
  • Ensure lesson plans are created and differentiated to student specific needs.
  • Guides teachers on tracking and monitoring data to track student performance and to make data driven decisions about classroom and student specific educational programming.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of curricula for the EIDT Summer program and assists in ensuring the summer program meets Child Care licensing and EIDT requirements
  • Ensures educational testing/assessments are completed (at the beginning, middle and end of school year) and appropriate goals are developed from results that align with each student’s educational growth and development.
  • Regularly observes classroom instruction and identifies areas for improvement, providing targeted coaching and professional development.
  • Ensures goals for each student are properly documented for school year and summer programs.
  • Substitutes in classroom when needed
  • Coordinates the implementation of related program services with internal and external partners including pre-ETS, pragmatic groups, art, etc.
  • Facilitates coordination with teachers, therapists (OT, PT, ST and/or ABA) and support staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are provided as needed.
  • Coordinates with LRSD psych examiner to schedule testing and parental consent.

While performing the duties of this position the teacher will comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.

 

The employee has access to all client-protected health information of the individuals directly served by this person, except psychotherapy notes.  Employees will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:    

  •  Directly supervises Teachers.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and providing oversight of training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:                                            

Master’s degree in special education required. Teaching License and Certification in Special Education required. Five or more years of experience teaching special education preferred. Two or more years’ experience in leadership experience preferred.

Teaching License and Certification in Special Education

Valid Arkansas Driver's License
