Description

The IT Support Intern will complete a 3-month hands-on internship on-site at Byrna FWA1, our primary global manufacturing and fulfillment facility. The internship will involve learning day-to-day from the IT Systems Administrator, completing basic IT data entry and organizational tasks, with additional opportunities to practice more complex tasks as the internship progresses. The intern will participate in a one-hour in-depth learning session with the Director of IT per week. This session will focus on a unique, modern, enterprise IT subject per week and allow for hands-on exploration of that subject as it impacts our organization. The intern will have the opportunity and environment to practice limited cloud architecture and system deployments for educational purposes. Upon successful completion of the internship, the intern will be eligible to apply for any open full-time positions at the company. 

Key Internship Objectives: 

  • Weeks 1-2:  

  • Gain familiarity with our IT environment 

  • Receive basic read access to relevant systems 

  • Shadow IT Systems Administrator in day-to-day tasks 

  • Complete basic IT data entry, organizational, and housekeeping tasks  

  • Weeks 3-6:  

  • Objectives from Weeks 1-2 

  • Receive basic support access to relevant 

  • Continue to explore IT environment, practice workstation deployment and employee onboarding 

  • Practice providing the most basic of IT support to users as requested 

  • Weeks 7-12: 

  • Objectives from Weeks 3-6 

  • Practice IT administration tasks based on qualification determined by the IT Systems Administrator 

  • Gain a deep understanding of IT Support and basic understand of Systems Administration 

  • Practice providing mid-tier IT support to users as comfortable 

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Intermediate understanding of computer hardware, software (both Windows and macOS), and networking. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an IT-related program. 

  • Ability to self-start while collaborating as part of a team.
