The primary roles will be to serve as a backup to the UT inspectors and work within the weld shop when not performing UT inspections. The position will be for second shift, but there will be a UT training and qualifications period where it will be necessary to train on both shifts.
The UT inspector will set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects using NDT methods of inspection. Establishing techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection. Ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough examinations of all materials and finished products.
- Conduct and report internal inspections and evaluations.
- Implement and improve quality control operating procedures.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and defects.
- Perform visual weld inspections throughout the shop.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Preferred Experience:
- UT or nondestructive testing experience.
- Visual weld checking to national standards.
- Experience welding or successfully passing an AWS weld test.
