Description

Executes shipping and receiving aspects of the order fulfillment process. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Provides shipping and receiving support at the Augusta plant
  • Ensures that receiving, warehousing and distribution operations are maintained by creating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, policies and procedures.
    • Shuttles to outside warehouses
    • Loading patterns (Damage reduction efforts)
    • Labeling process/programs
    • Shipment inspections
    • CFR investigations
    • Pallet storage program (as applicable)
  • Receives and puts away incoming product accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintains proper inventory control by identifying and placing materials in bins; recording location of inventory, and reporting damages and discrepancies.
  • Perform quality control inspections before shipment and prior to receipts of goods to and from the Augusta plant.
  • Performs special shipping instructions (stenciling and labeling) as required per customer requests
  • Maintains safe, clean, and organized working environment.
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.
  • Ensures, establishes and maintains physical condition of warehouse by assigning and completing Master Sanitation Schedules; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair; issuing requisitions for replacement as needed; and improving work flow layouts.

  • Must be able to work over eight hours per day or forty hours per week on any shift or travel as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

High School Diploma/GED
WorkKey Assessment Scores: Workplace Observation (1), Locating Information (4), Reading for Information (5) Applied Mathematics (3)

Preferred: One year of warehouse experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Reading/comprehension, speaking and writing at required education equivalency level. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence, technical/product information, policies/procedures or government regulations. Ability to complete written forms and write routine to complex procedures, reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group or individual setting.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Electronic Mail.
  • Proficiency in relevant SAP modules preferred and working knowledge of similar materials management software required.

COMPLEXITY
The work includes varied duties requiring many different and unrelated processes and methods be applied to a broad range of activities and/or substantial depth of analysis within a particular area. Decisions include areas of uncertainty in approach, methodology, interpretation or evaluation resulting from such elements as continuing changes, technical developments, unknown phenomena or conflicting requirements. The work requires originating new techniques, establishing criteria, or developing new information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires physical exertion to include sitting; walking; standing; bending; driving an automobile, forklift carrying/lifting of light and heavy items (up to 55 lbs). Work may require employee to traverse up and down both stairs and ladders during the course of a shift. Work routinely requires speaking and hearing (expression or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words and perceiving sounds by ear).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment requires normal safety precautions typical of industrial/manufacturing environments. Requires use of safe work practices with equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations. Manufacturing and warehousing areas are not climate controlled and environment includes work that requires special safety precautions such as working with irritant chemicals, around moving parts, carts or machines. Employee will be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, safety shoes, boots, goggles, gloves, safety glasses or shields.
