In this role, the Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting providers and nurses with patient centered care, documenting in patient records, and completing administrative duties that contribute to the overall care of patients.
The MA is responsible for performing assigned patient tasks, rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, preforming point of care testing, administering vaccines, drawing labs, EKG’s, ear irrigation, assisting in minor procedures, fielding patient phone calls, obtaining prior authorizations, sterilization, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient care supplies.
This position requires that you have great attention to detail and can accurately and quickly enter detailed patient information into the EHR. Must be able to perform well under pressure and enjoy a very fast pace and have good communication skills and positively contribute to a professional work environment.
Position Summary: We are seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) who works as a member of the multi-disciplinary integrated patient care team performing delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with the MA’s education, training and demonstrated competency. If medical assistant holds a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license they will work closely with the Nurse Manager, assisting with clinical operations under the Nurse Manager performing supervision and training of the Medical Assistant (MA) staff, perform quality controls, record keeping, and other administrative support. In addition, the Nurse-LPN will be proficient in providing clinical nursing care in the primary care setting.
Our ideal candidate for our Medical Assistant position will have their high school diploma and at least 1 year of experience as a medical assistant or LPN with at least 1 year experience. Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant or maintaining a current Licensed Practical Nurse License is preferred.
Salary: Starting Pay Range $19.00 – $24.64 per hour and considers preferred licensure and experience.
Physical demands: Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in patient condition. Hearing must be sufficient to interact with a patient who may be unable to speak at a normal voice level. Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments.

Required Skills:
- Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability to access the internet.
- Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures and priorities.

- Must have current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis Health System’ insurance agency.
- Occasional travel required.
- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
Additional eligibility requirements: Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, CPI training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification required.
