JOB SUMMARY
Delivers on University Credit Union’s core purpose of giving the University Community a financial advantage by building and nurturing relationships and programs within designated authority. As a Commercial Lending & Business Banking Specialist, you will be responsible for acquiring, developing, and assisting commercial and business banking relationships by delivering a full range of business deposits and related services, such as Treasury Management solutions.
This position will also assist in the commercial loan processing of commercial loans, which may include Small Business Administration guaranteed loans, multi-family residential loans, and commercial real estate loans to current and potential credit union Members. Request documents via mail, email, and phone and coordinate efforts to maintain completion time of annual loan reviews within stated guidelines.
The Commercial & Business Banking Lending Specialist will also be tasked with assisting in processing complex commercial loans from start to finish under minimal direction of the VP Commercial Lending. Responds to inquiries from borrowers, and others, regarding the loan’s status, policies, procedures, and related issues, providing exceptional Member service. This position will also be responsible for quality control on all closed files, and creating and managing various reports.
LOCATION

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as Business account specialist.
a. Achieve individual and/or team financial, production and relationship result relative to the specific metrics and goals assigned.
b. Initiate conversation to uncover sales or referral opportunities. Listen attentively and ask insightful questions to understand Member needs and preferences; and take prompt actions to address immediate needs.
c. Collaborate and work with Treasury Team to assist on member eligibility accounts to support ACH, Wires, Positive Pay, and other services.
d. Collect documentation necessary to open a UCU membership and achieve internal & external satisfactory compliance /audit results
e. Help establish, communicate, and achieve the credit union's goals and standards.
f. Work with VP efforts to implement efficiencies and assist with projects as required.
g. Comply with all credit union policies, service standards, procedural guidelines, and regulatory compliance.
h. Assists VP in providing required documentation for audits (NCUA/DFPI).
i. Responsible for accurate set up of business accounts and ensure minimal fraud through due diligence of business account eligibility and account opening procedures & processes.
j. Procedures to be maintained and updates on all business services processes. This is to include Business Account Openings and updated product sheet for training and marketing needs.
Responsible for the management of the existing commercial loan portfolio.
a. Track and record loan status through available electronic means and maintaining an annual review tracking report Log (Excel) monthly
b. Monitor the Member Business Loan Portfolio for delinquency, covenants, and changes in status and regularly produce reports to management. Tickler reports are to be accurate and updated prior to month end for monthly board and audit reporting via Excel for VP review.
c. Request, and submit financial data related to the commercial loan portfolio’s annual review of credit files for VP review Ensure updated electronic filing system is updated with Borrower complete files at all times.
d. Make Member calls and send emails to members obtain requests for financial documents to borrowers via e-mail and follow up for non-receipt of financial documents requested via e-mail past due letters, phone calls. This is to include updated borrower financial information to be obtained from third party CUSCOs.
e. Communicate with past due Members/Borrowers through mail, and phone calls. Documentation is to be updated monthly in borrower files.
f. Manage and maintain current business relationships with all borrowers within the credit union’s business services portfolio.
g. Track and collect insurance and tax payment status and report immediately to VP of any late or delinquent status. As requested, run property tax search if tax payments are delinquent. Perform UCC searches as required
h. Provide accurate tracking and reporting information for manager’s review on a monthly basis
i. Assist Management team with loan servicing, including, but not limited to participation loan purchases and sales including application requests, commercial loan document requests, closings and execution of loan document and escrow requirements. All loan borrower files are to have completed applications.
Responsible for processing new and existing commercial loans.
a. Process various types of commercial loans, collecting and disseminating all appropriate information between borrowers, brokers, and 3rd parties.
b. Order and obtain required due diligence reports, secures collateral with escrow and title companies; obtain all insurance as appropriate inclusive of flood determination and property insurance; UCCs, title, entity verification and obtains all other information required for proper documentation and collateral perfection.
c. Check documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates and signatures.
d. Prepare complex loan documents, Lender's Instructions, and all appropriate collateral security documentation in accordance with credit union policies.
e. Answer telephone and written inquiries concerning loan processing and servicing information.
f. Order additional information from outside sources per VP request
