Position: Lead Information Assurance (IA) Network Engineer / Systems Administrator 2
Location: N6-Communications, USNAVSOUTH/FOURTHFLT
Position Summary:
The Lead IA Network Engineer / Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the secure operation, maintenance, and enhancement of network infrastructure for USNAVSOUTH/FOURTHFLT. This role involves managing sophisticated systems, anticipating network growth, and maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Essential Functions:
- Provide expert-level IA network engineering and system administration support within designated IA spaces during normal working hours (0730-1600).
- Operate, secure, maintain, and repair network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, video teleconference systems, servers, and TACLANE encryptors, with expected 5% annual network expansion.
- Support various DoD C4I Systems, including JWICS, CENTRIXS, and other networks aligned with operational requirements.
- Serve as primary network engineer and secondary system administrator, providing direct support for key systems like DCGS-N, ADSI, GCCS-J, Radiant Mercury (RADMERC), and Video Teleconference (VTC) platforms.
- Conduct weekly scans, apply patches, and submit reports (10-15 per week) per DoD Information Assurance (IA) and Computer Network Defense (CND) guidelines.
- Design, implement, and maintain network architectures, ensuring security and efficiency under DoD guidance.
- Coordinate and document changes to network configuration and topology.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize 24 switches and routers, conducting diagnostics and performance analysis.
- Install and maintain software and hardware, controlling versions and ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
- Maintain accountability of over 150 IT assets assigned to USNAVSOUTH/FOURTHFLT.
- Provide customer support, troubleshooting complex problems to minimize service interruptions.
- Perform network assessments, vulnerability scans, compliance audits, and cybersecurity evaluations.
- Lead network reallocations, PC maintenance, IT hardware management, and interim communications support.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required; must possess TS/SCI security clearance.
- Extensive experience in IA technology, network security, and system administration.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Engineer and install network infrastructure, including system upgrades and secure configurations.
- Manage firewall security, routing protocols, and switch operations.
- Conduct technical evaluations, system diagnostics, and security policy implementations.
- Assist in IT equipment management, system architecture planning, and compliance enforcement.
- Support vendor-supplied modifications, ensuring adherence to federal security regulations.
