Responsibilities:
- Maintains an active knowledge base of electrical standards (NFPA 79, UL 508a).
- Designs schematics and panel layouts for power and control cabinets.
- Selects electrical components for both new and sustained products.
- Develops control software using PLCs and HMIs per written specifications.
- Supports engineering teams with electrical design, testing, controls, and fixture design.
- Drives the documentation and maintenance of design intent and design reports by recording accurate data on concepts, tests, and construction.
- Is available for technical consultation with product sustaining and validation personnel as needed.
- Drives tasks as required by the product development project timeline.
- Uses appropriate calculations to develop robust designs and meet project specifications.
- Allocates ample time to research and propose solutions for the project.
- Regularly documents and reports milestone status in a clear and concise manner.
- Supports change management efforts for continuous improvement on products as required.
- Uses DFMEA practices to analyze failure modes and address risks.
- Emphasizes documentation and maintenance on engineering standards and best practices.
- Execute peer reviews new product designs.
- Uses a strong engineering foundation to develop subject matter expertise.
- Leverages subject matter expertise to support engineering and production personnel as well as customers as needed.
- Provides mentorship to interns and entry level engineers as a technical resource.
- Demonstrates initiative and innovation within cross-functional teams focused on meeting continuous improvement objectives.
- Utilizes critical thinking to aid in solid decision making and creative thinking to find solutions to unique problems.
- Clearly and concisely communicates in verbal and written form to inform the organization on activity status and with demonstrated ability to perform effective change management is required.
- Cooperates with stake holders to ensure successful and timely handoffs of development projects.
- As a member of the engineering team, act as a team member in improvement initiatives with products, processes, or business systems.
