PURPOSE
The Driver transports clients to and from worksites, promoting their independence by breaking the barrier by providing a means for them to perform a job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND COVID REGULATIONS
Physical Demands
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Using near vision/visual depth perception
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone/cell phone
- See, hear, and speak sufficient to communicate effectively with others
- Reaching, handling, bending
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to push/pull respectively up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass random drug/marijuana/alcohol test.
- Must be able to pass yearly driving physical.
- Must be able to pass yearly drivers training.
Work Environment
- Driving long distances.
- Weather conditions (i.e. rain, snow, fog, hail, or heat)
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Exposed to anti-social behavior and to various types of pathogens, and cleaning chemicals
COVID Regulations
- In accordance to State Licensing requirements, all program staff must provide proof of vaccination or provide a religious or medical exemption
- Exempt employees are required to be tested routinely
- Additional testing for all employees may be required but is subject to change depending upon circumstances
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Complete pre and post trip inspections, recording and reporting any defects and malfunctions
- Communicate client issues to Case Manager
- Practice safe and secure driving at all times
- Follow the most efficient routes
- Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles
- Communicate with business relationships in a courteous manner
- Maintain courteous and professional communication with staff and clients
- Follow all safe driving procedures and instruct clients of company vehicle safety rules
- Make sure all clients are wearing seat belts
- Take duty-free breaks and lunches when applicable
