Salary: This LPN position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule based on experience, starting at step 1, $40,835.64 for the 24/25 SY
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year
Job Goal: To support the professional staff in meeting the educational and medical needs of students eligible for special education.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Works with the certified school nurse to implement medical services as prescribed.
2. Assists the certified school nurse in developing and maintaining medical management plans.
3. Performs medical procedures and monitors the student response under the direction of the certified school nurse.
4. Provides input to the teacher regarding relevant information on student medical concerns and/or related areas.
5. Works with the teacher as a team member in the educational and social development of students.
6. Assists the teacher in developing and maintaining a positive environment.
7. Acts as a positive social and emotional model for students.
8. Performs instructional activities and monitors the results of those activities under the teacher's direction.
9. Assists the teacher upon request in the management of student behavior in accordance with established disciplinary policies and procedures.
10. Performs CPR, First Aid, and/or proper child restraint techniques as needed.
11. Provides input to the teacher regarding relevant information on student academic progress, behavioral change, physical needs and other areas as appropriate.
12. Follows all established CAIU policies and administrative procedures.
13. Maintains confidentiality by refraining from discussion of student progress and problems as required in the CAIU Policy on Confidentiality of Information (FERPA).
14. Assists in meeting the student's personal care needs as directed.
15. Assist students to and from vehicles and other parts of the building, and/or off-site experiences, all of which may include lifting.
16. Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as required.
17. Assumes responsibility for fostering a good educational paraprofessional to teacher working relationship, but in no case supersedes the teacher's authority to manage all aspects of the instructional program.
18. Works to create, maintain and build positive working relationships with internal and external (district, community, agency) staff.
19. Participates in preparation of materials, bulletin boards, and other displays.
20. Follows assigned schedule including attendance, start and end times, and overall punctuality.
21. Adheres to all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, particularly as they relate to the Pennsylvania School Code.
22. Attends in-services, training, and meetings as directed.
23. Serves on any CAIU team as directed.
24. Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.
