The Metro Atlanta Chamber is seeking a Program Director to assist in crafting, developing and executing a new talent initiative that directly connects Metro Atlanta Chamber investor companies with previously untapped pools of young talent from across the state.

 

Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for leading the development and execution of the Metro Atlanta Chamber’s (MAC) internship placement program. The Director will manage the program and develop relevant partnerships with employers and colleges, while hiring and managing staff for the program. This individual will work under the Senior Director, Talent Development, and in close partnership with the Director of Talent Partnerships, the Manager of the ATL Talent Collaborative, and the MAC Investor Relations team.

The ideal candidate can manage relationships with business and education leaders and is able to manage multiple projects and events with ease. The candidate will communicate in a strong, positive, and effective manner, both verbally and non-verbally, and be a self-starter with the ability to sustain and move work forward with minimal direction. Candidate should possess a strong knowledge and passion for student, early career talent and a desire to connect diverse, young talent with internship positions across a variety of companies. All MAC employees are expected to work collaboratively with other MAC departments and be team players to help accomplish our organizational mission. This position is partially funded through a 26-month grant with, upon successful completion of grant objectives, a possibility for renewal.

 

Work Program:

  • Successfully expand and manage MAC’s internship placement initiative, including the development of goals and tactics that will make the effort successful
  • Maintain consistent and effective relationships with MAC investor companies and relevant college & career center staff that are participating in our internship program efforts
  • Manage and mentor internship program staff, and others as assigned
  • In conjunction with other MAC staff, oversee successful hiring events for the internship program
  • Participate in MAC’s ATL Talent Collaborative
  • Ensure data and metrics for grant reporting are accurately compiled and communicated to the Senior Director, Talent
  • Promote the internship placement program both publicly with partners and prospective companies and privately with MAC investors
  • Direct public inquiries appropriately
  • Attend community meetings and participate as an informed expert in community and partnership events including some public speaking and presentation
  • Assist with scheduling and attending meetings & webinars related to MAC”s talent work and the internship placement program implementation
  • Assist directly in the development, implementation and maintenance of a contact and reporting database for the internship placement program
  • Collaboratively manage communications processes for MAC investors participating in the internship placement program
  • This position may involve interaction with minors and diverse individuals. Strict adherence to MAC policies is required.
  • Collect and report on program metrics to MAC leadership and provide necessary grant reports on programmatic activity.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in career development, student career center activity or youth workforce development is strongly preferred
  • Communications and writing skills for both internal and external audiences
  • Analytic, problem-solving skills that show your ability to balance goal achievement with a high quality of work
  • Networking skills, outgoing personality, and one-on-one relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of education and/or workforce systems including higher education and community organizations

 

Desired Skills:

  • Strong project management skills and/or project manage certification
  • Experience in grant management and/or grant reporting
  • Ability to work in teams and across departments while managing both solo and team projects in conjunction with overall MAC goals
  • Ability to draft and present data in both public and private settings across stakeholders and audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,) internet search, etc.
  • Experience using contact management software
  • Ability to manage and/or coordinate public events for young people
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of media – phone, text, email, other online platforms, etc.
